Cortez Kennedy Voted into Canton

Former Seattle Seahawk, and UM alum, Cortez Kennedy was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Kennedy amassed a prestigious NFL career - one that lasted 11 seasons and took him to 8 Pro Bowls.  Drafted in 1990, he was the 3rd overall pick and became a permanent starter for the Seahawks following his rookie season.  In his entire career, Kennedy started all but 9 games  and finished with 58 total sacks.

In regards to playing with Seattle for his entire career, said Kennedy, “I didn't want to go anywhere else."  You know, I could have played for a couple other teams, but that Seahawks organization, ever since I was there until today, has just been outstanding. They treated me right and I know some of my teammates that played there, everybody likes to come back to Seattle. Like I said, players move around, I guess they get better contracts, but one thing I can say is that the Seahawks wanted me there."

Kennedy had been a finalist three other times prior to being elected in 2012.

Aubrey Hill Resigns from Gators

Aubrey Hill, the former Miami Hurricanes wide receivers coach who went on to hold the same position with the Florida Gators, has officially resigned.  While at Miami, Hill allegedly committed various recruiting violations and his name was among those listed in the infamous Yahoo! article, authored by Charles Robinson.

According to the University of Florida, Hill resigned due to "personal reasons" effective immediately.  However, it has been speculated that Hill resigned due to his involvement with Miami ex-booster and convicted felon Nevin Shapiro.

According to Will Muschamp, "Aubrey informed me he was resigning for personal reasons that have nothing to do with the University of Florida."  Aubrey didn't want to be a distraction to our team and our football program and he thought it was best for him to move on. I appreciate Aubrey's efforts and wish him the best moving forward. He will always remain a Gator."

Shaprio claims that Hill frequented his house, along with Clint Hurtt, where they brought a number of high-caliber recruits, including Ray Ray Armstrong, Dyron Dye, and Andre Debose.  Armstrong and Dye would end up committing to Miami while Debose chose the Gators.  Shapiro also alleges that the group visited various strip clubs and bars where he picked up the tabs.

Hill was on the Gators staff for only a year.  With the current Miami investigation, it seems that it would be in the greater interest for Hill and the Gators to simply part ways.

Jamal Carter Picks the U

DB Jamal Carter has verbally committed to the University of Miami.

The second DB commit for Miami this week, Carter chose the 'Canes over Florida State and LSU.

Said Carter, "I like that Miami is close to home and I think it is the best fit for me," Carter said. "My family will be close and my mom won't need to pay too much money to come to my games and have to make long trips. I think I have the best chance to play early at Miami and earn a starting job too."

Michael Barrow has been recruiting the stud safety for some time, said Carter, "Micheal Barrow has been my main recruiter," Carter said. "He is a cool dude. He got to know my mom really good and they made a nice connection. He is a guy that I trust and I got along really good with him."

Carter becomes Miami's 11th commit for the 2013 season and the first safety to verbal to the U.  The four-star prospect is ranked the 16th best safety in the nation.
